Laying a traditional concrete base for a log home, garden office, outbuilding or any other log cabin type modular structure requires effort, hard work, and a lot expertise to complete. On most occasions it may be necessary to employ expert services of a specialist contractor to effect the desired finish.
With the increasing costs of concrete, labour and time, getting it right first time is imperative and it all starts with the foundation.
After 10 years of experiencing problems both concrete rafts, brick plinths and piling foundations, Swift thought there must be an easier and more cost effective way of laying foundations. Now there is, The Swift Plinth Foundation.
The Swift Plinth System consists of a top stone with unique fixing bracket, which fits onto interlocking base stones. The interlocking design resists shear and enables 360% alignment. The beauty of this system is its simplicity and versatility. The stacking engagement will compensate for undulating ground conditions with minimal excavation.
The fixing bracket is adjustable to 50mm at the turn of a spanner to ensure your building is absolutely level.
Better
Environment – Less concrete means less CO2 and all components are 100% reusable.
Construction – no permanent mistakes to contend with, adjustment is possible at any stage
Contractor – its easy to use and difficult to get wrong
Budget: you know how much it is going to cost
Building – the raised plinth gives excellent airflow which increase the life of the building
Faster
Minimal excavation means little or no spoil to dispose of, with no mess.
No on site wet mix concrete, which means no time delay for weather or curing.
You get out of the ground quickly.
There are no complications with archeologist.
You can carry your own foundations onto site.
Cheaper
Total budget control.
A sensible environmental option for less money.
More capital to invest in other areas of your project.
Confidence in self build project.
The satisfaction of not pouring you money into the ground.
The timber building foundation system
Swift bracket
Galvanised fabrication. Allows up to 50mm fine-tuning at the turn of a spanner to enable the building to be levelled at any stage of the construction. Load bearing calculated at 2 tons per plinth.
Swift top stone
50-newton concrete, pyramid shaped stone with location point for the galvanised Swift bracket. Reinforced concrete base stones of 100mm and 50mm.
Swift base stone
Concrete stones, available in two thickness levels, which enables you to adjust the levels very quickly and efficiently. The interlocking design ensures there is no slippage at all, no matter how many base stones you use to build up the plinth.
Environmentally Friendly Foundations:
With fewer materials, the Swift Plinth System uses less energy to produce and manufacture leaving a much smaller carbon footprint on the environment. It is also less invasive in terms of groundwork preparation.
If a building using this foundation system is moved natural fauna can re-establish quickly removing all evidence of a foundation ever having been there.
100% re-cyclable as all components are re-useable.
Please ensure that the flooring of your chosen structure can be supported using this system I.E can your floor joists span the required distances. In some cases extra timbers and components may be required in order to support the floor. If you require further information regarding flooring spans please visit www.trada.co.uk for more information.
